UP4MemoryCare

UP4MemoryCare is a mobile Memory Care & Support Program designed to enhance the well-being, memory recall, and engagement of seniors through interactions with mini horses. This unique program visits care centers, nursing homes, and adult day care facilities, offering residents meaningful opportunities for connection, reminiscence, and engagement in a joyful and comforting environment. Mini horses provide a calming presence that fosters social interaction, emotional connection, and mental stimulation.

How UP4MemoryCare Works
UP4MemoryCare brings mini horses directly to your facility. Each visit is led by trained handlers who guide safe and enriching interactions tailored to the needs of residents. Activities include petting, brushing, and connecting with the mini horses in group or individual sessions. These activities encourage movement, conversation, and positive social interactions.

It was love at first sight when Dorothy Barss met Mr. Wilson.

Benefits of Mini Horses for Seniors
Interacting with mini horses has shown to create moments of joy and connection, especially for individuals with memory loss or cognitive challenges. Their small size, gentle demeanor, and friendly nature make them ideal companions in elder care settings, bringing warmth and familiarity to residents.

    • Encourages Memory Recall: Interactions with animals can spark conversations, stories, and memories from the past. Mini horses often evoke feelings of nostalgia, helping seniors reconnect with earlier life experiences.

    • Creates a Sense of Calm: Spending time with a calm and steady animal can reduce feelings of stress and promote relaxation, creating a positive atmosphere for residents.

    • Fosters Social Interaction: Mini horse visits naturally encourage residents to gather and engage with each other, caregivers, and family members, creating moments of connection and reducing feelings of isolation.

    • Provides Sensory Stimulation: Petting and brushing a mini horse provides a gentle sensory experience that can be comforting and grounding, particularly for individuals with memory or cognitive challenges.
